Bio
Miller On Luyster: 'Mike brings a great physical presence to us defensively. He has been a starter since the day he got here. He has excellent athleticism for his size, and is very solid in the clearing game. Luyster matches up well against bigger stronger attackers. He has the potential to be an all-league defender.'
As A Junior In 2007: One of the tri-captains ... was nationally ranked in the NCAA Top 100 in ground balls per game ... was second on the team in ground balls with 41, his career-best season effort ... forced a season-high 13 caused turnovers, good for second best on the team ... one of the most athletic players in the backfield ... played a key role in keeping Rutgers to just four goals (March 31), their lowest season scoring effort of the season.
As A Sophomore In 2006: Started in all 12 games played ... scored lone goal in season finale against Fairfield (April 29) ... took two shots on goal ... was the team MVP and earned the Francis McCall Award, which is presented to a lacrosse player who possesses outstanding athletic ability and exceptional team leadership.
As A Freshman In 2005: Played in all 13 games, starting 12 ... collected 37 groundballs ... took one shot.
Before St. John[apos]s: Earned all-county honors during his senior campaign at Hicksville ... honorable mention all-county his junior year ... also played football where he was all-county and team MVP his senior season.
Off The Field: Born February 3, 1986, in Plainview, N.Y. ... son of John and Maureen Luyster...has three brothers, John (29), Matt (24) and Patrick (19) and one sister, Shannon (31) ... his brother John was an All-America lacrosse player at Army, he graduated in 2006 ... denotes his family as the most influential people in his athletic career ... also enjoys fishing ... criminal justice major with an interest in law school.
