Alioune Ndiaye was hired as the video coordinator for the St. John's women's basketball team in June 2013. His primary duties include game video preparation, opponent film breakdown and assisting the coaching staff in film scouting.
He also coordinates film exchange with other teams and upcoming opponents, and directs student managers for the videotaping of all practices and games played.
Before joining the St. John's staff, Ndiaye worked two seasons as an assistant women's basketball coach under former head coach Joe Pellicane at Dowling College. With Ndiaye on staff, Dowling went 52-11 and advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championship game and won the East Coast Conference Tournament and Regular season titles in back-to-back seasons. He was part of the ECC's Coaching Staff of the Year in 2013 and helped lead Dowling to a national No. 1 ranking in defense for Division II.
With the Golden Lions, he handled all facets of the video exchange, while assisting Pellicane with recruiting, workouts, training and scheduling. Ndiaye also helped assess the players' skill development, monitoring the players during competition and at practice. His primary focus was with the post players. Ndiaye also worked to coordinate all off-campus community service programs.
In addition to his work in basketball, Ndiaye also worked as a graduate assistant in Dowling's Residence Life department where he supervised Dowling's resident assistants. Ndiaye was responsible for giving tours to visiting students and parents, scheduling activities and events, and acting as a mentor for students.
Ndiaye has also worked as a direct care counselor at Maryhaven, working with disabled children in Port Jefferson, N.Y.
Ndiaye played three seasons for the Dowling Golden Lions from 2007-10 and was a two-year starter at center. As a junior, his 44 blocked shots ranked him third on Dowling's all-time charts for a single season. Following graduation, Ndiaye played one year for the New York Wizards, a professional team competing in the Eastern Basketball Alliance.
A native of Senegal, Ndiaye, received a bachelor's degree in finance from Dowling in 2010. He then became a double-alum as he finished his master's degree in education from Dowling in May 2013.
