10/23/2000 12:00:00 AM | Women's Volleyball
It was only the second time this season that the Storm got swept in a match, as their record falls to 20-6, 4-2 in the league. Pittsburgh, which now owns an 8-0 mark all-time against St. Johns, improves to 18-8, 4-2.
Coming off an emotional victory over West Virginia on Friday, the Storm just couldnt get into an offensive rhythm. The Panthers struck for 19 kills to only two errors in the first game which set the tone for the match. St. Johns did manage to assume a 5-1 advantage in the third game, but the Panthers quickly closed the gap and rallied to score nine straight points for a 9-5 lead. From there they never trailed, and handed the Storm just their second road loss of the year.
Senior Olga Roudovski (Brooklyn, N.Y./Sheepshead Bay) led the Storm with 13 kills, while senior Aleeza Miller (Los Angeles, Calif./Cal-Berkeley) finished with seven kills and six blocks.
The Red Storm return to action on Wednesday, October 25, when they travel to Siena for a non-conference match with the Saints at 7:00.
