Lomonaco posted a throw of 165 feet, 3 inches - 50.38 meters - and finished in fifth place in her flight. The top nine throws advanced to the finals and her throw narrowly missed the qualifications for finals."It was not a bad performance," St. John's Head Coach Jim Hurt said. "She did a great job considering that she's been hurt and hasn't thrown in six weeks. Despite only having a limited time to get ready, she really did a nice job."
Lomonaco missed being named an All American by one place, with the top eight American-born student-athletes earning that honor.
The senior, who earned the John W. Kaiser Award as St. John's most outstanding female athlete, will continue to compete this summer in an attempt to qualify for the United States Olympic team.
