VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS SACRED HEART IN FOUR

The win upped SJU's record to 7-2 on the season, while the Pioneers fell to 3-6.
St. John's hit .381 in the first game, collecting 10 kills with only two errors. Despite committing 10 hitting errors in the second game, the Storm dominated the third game, 15-1, on 11 kills and only one error. St. John's found themselves trailing 5-2 in the fourth game, but after a timeout, rallied for a 10-1 run and closed out the match 15-11.
Freshman Rosalyn Dang (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) tallied 10 kills to go along with eight digs and seven service aces. Freshman Robyn Kurasaki (Milliani, Hawaii/Maryknoll) assisted on 45 of SJU's 54 kills, while senior Aleeza Miller (Los Angeles, Calif./Cal-Berkeley) hit .438 for the match with 10 kills and eight digs. At the start of the week, Miller was the BIG EAST leader in hitting percentage.
The Red Storm will next host Arkansas-Little Rock in a non-conference match on Thursday, September 14, at 7:00 in Alumni Hall.
