Sullivan Leads St. Johns at BIG EAST Championship

Juniors Sean Tremblay (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Greg Mason (Staten Island, N.Y.) finished just seconds apart as they clocked their best times of the fall season with a 26:01 and a 26:04 respectively. Adam Sutton, a senior from Providence, was the mens top finisher, with a time of 23:33
The top finisher for the women was sophomore Tessa Woodruff (Nova Scotia, Canada), placing 92nd with a time of 24:19. A dual athlete for St. Johns, this was only Woodruffs second race of the season having also been a key member of the tennis team in the fall. Also having a strong race was freshman Jasmine Barreto (Staten Island, N.Y) who finished with a time of 25:16. Lauren King, from Notre Dame, finished first overall, clocking a time of 20:23.
Finishing first in the team competition was the University of Notre Dame who topped Georgetown by a single point to claim the programs first BIG EAST title. As the St. Johns women team finished 14th overall in the team competition.
The St. Johns mens and womens cross country teams return to action on Saturday, November 16th, when they compete at the NCAA Northeast Regional at Van Cortland Park, in Bronx, N.Y.
