St. Johns Volleyball Falls to No. 10 Wisconsin, 3-0

St. Johns was led by on offense by junior Rosalyn Dang (Honolulu, Hawaii) who posted five kills on 11 attacks with a .364 hitting percentage. Freshman Jackie Ahlers (Stony Point, N.Y.) made her presence felt in her debut with six kills on 15 attacks while committing one error. Junior setter Robyn Kuraski (Milliani, Hawaii) had a solid match at with 22 assists while senior Meaghan Creedon (Rohnert Park, Calif.) scored two kills and one service ace.
On defense, sophomore Yana Ruban (Kiev, Ukraine) led the way with five defensive digs and one solo block. Ruban was also a threat offensively recording six kills on 18 attempts (.056).
St. Johns jumped out to an early 2-0 lead over Wisconsin in game one but the Badgers answered with eight straight points. After falling behind by 13 points St. Johns was able to make a run and cut the lead to nine at 25-16. Wisconsin would close the game out with a 5-1 run for the 30-17 victory.
In game two, the Red Storm matched Wisconsin early, tying the game at eight. After a service ace and Red Storm hitting error Wisconsin slowly pulled away and took the game 30-15. Wisconsin jumped out to an early 11-4 lead in game three and never looked back, beating the Red Storm 30-15.
The Red Storm continue play in North Carolina tomorrow with a 10 a.m. match against the host Tar Heels. St. Johns is also scheduled to play New Mexico at 5 p.m. before returning home.
