Red Storm Womens Tennis Beats Fairfield, 7-0

Senior Nataliya Kostova (Flushing, N.Y.) led the charge in singles, defeating Fairfields Diana Webb, 6-1, 6-3, in the No. 1 spot. Sophomore Kristina Bothova (Bratislava, Slovakia) breezed through at the No. 2 spot, beating Fairfields Megan Stauffer, 6-0, 6-0. Kostova and Bothova won at No. 1 doubles as well, beating the Stags team of Webb and Erin Reeves, 8-3.
Other singles winners for the Red Storm included sophomore Tessa Woodruff (Halifax, Nova Scotia), who won, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3; freshman Lauren Lorenzetti (Northfield, N.J.), who won at No. 4, 6-1, 6-1; graduate student Vera Efstathiou (Whitestone, N.Y.), who won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5; and junior Olga Romanidis (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.), who won in three sets at No. 6, 6-1, 6-7 (8-6), 7-6 (7-2).
The doubles teams of Lorenzetti and Woodruff won at No. 2 doubles, 8-6; and the third doubles team of Efstathiou and sophomore Jennifer Liantonio (West Hempstead, N.Y.) won, 9-8 (7-5 tiebreaker).
St. Johns continues its fall schedule next weekend, playing in a tri-match at Hofstra, with Fordham and LIU.
