St. Johns Falls to Stony Brook, 3-2

In game one, the Red Storm came out firing and quickly jumped out to 22-14 advantage. Stony Brook would make a run and pull within four at 24-20. The Red Storm would not let up and would go on to win the game, 30-25.
In game two, St. Johns got off to a fast start again and held the early advantage at 10-5. Stony Brook climbed back in at 20-17, but the Red Storm finished strong and took the game, 30-22.
Game three saw Stony Brook jump out to an early 9-5 advantage but St. Johns would score the five straight points to even the score at ten. Stony Brook then went on a 5-0 run of its own and held off the Red Storm for the 30-23 victory. Game four was a see saw battle till the end. The game was tied at 18 when St. Johns scored three straight points capped off by a service ace by junior setter Robyn Kurasaki (Milliani, Hawaii). Stony Brook did not give up and quickly tied the game at 24. The teams would trade points after that and with the game tied at 28, Stony Brook was able to win the final two points and force a fifth and deciding.
In the fifth and deciding game, the game was tied at eight when the Seawolves went on a 7-3 run to close out the Red Storm, 15-11.
St. Johns was led on offense by freshman Jackie Ahlers (Stony Point, N.Y.) who recorded 21 kills on 41 attempts and one service ace. Sophomore Allison Heckl (Corrales, N.M.) recorded 12 kills and 11 digs and freshman Dimitra Samas (Jamaica Estates, N.Y.) tallied 10 kills and 15 digs to give the duo double-doubles for the match. Kurasaki dished out 57 assists for the Red Storm.
On defense, senior Meaghan Creedon (Rohnert Park, Calif.) tallied three sole and 5 assisted blocks to pace the Red Storm. Junior Rosalyn Dang (Honolulu, Hawaii) added five assisted blocks and three digs.
The Red Storm return to action tomorrow night when they travel to Staten Island to play a double header against St. Francis and host Wagner College. Game times are scheduled for 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.
