Cross Country Places Second in 2003 SJU Fall Festival

The Red Storm was led by sophomore Jasmine Barreto (Staten Island, N.Y.) who finished ninth overall with a time of 20:06 in the 5000m course. Barreto has led St. John's in all three races so far this season.
Fellow sophomores Shamere McKenzie (Bronx, N.Y.) and Aja Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) crossed the line shortly after with time of 20:55 and 21:08, respectively. Junior transfer Kathleen Maher (Mineola, N.Y.) finished just twelve seconds after at 21:20.
Freshman Shani Spence (Jamaica, West Indies) crossed the line next with a time of 22:39 and was followed by Dominique Ficolora (Oceanside, N.Y.) at 23:04 and Sophia Jackson (Staten Island, N.Y.) at 23:08 to finish out the top-25. Sophomores Thamara Chermise (Hollis, N.Y.), Lauren Walsh (Amity Harbor, N.Y.) and Tarashon Broomes (Fairlawn, N.J.) also gave a strong performance for the Red Storm.
In the Men's five mile run, Fordham remarkably captured the first nine spots and was led by Patrick McLane who clocked in at 27:53.
