Red Storm Places Third at Princeton Quad

Princeton, N.J. - Senior Shernette Hyatt-Davis showed another outstanding performance, finishing first in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:20.38 along with anchoring the first place 4x400 relay team, but it was not enough as track and field finished third at the Princeton Quad on Saturday. Two other Red Storm athletes placed first in their events to add to the Red Storm's 45 points overall.
Senior Sophia Bazile (Nyack, N.Y.) won her second straight triple jump this season at 11.27m. Freshman Kellie Brown (Upper Darby, Pa.) finished first in the long jump at 5.65m, participating in only her second event as a member of the track and field team. The 4x400 relay team of Vanessa Sessa (Beltsville, Md), Thamara Cherisme (Hollis, N.Y.), Tarashon Broomes (Fairlawn, N.J.), along with Hyatt-Davis, crossed the line first with a time of 3:55.64.
Blessing Egwu (Queens, N.Y.) and Brandy Bradford (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) finished second and third in the 20lb weight throw at 16.26m and 16.14m, respectively. Cherisme and Sessa also placed second and third in the 400 meter dash with times of 59.72 and 1:00.03.
The Red Storm returns to action as they travel to West Point, N.Y. for the Army Invitational on Saturday, January 24, 2004.
