St. John's Places Fourth at Army Invite

West Point, N.Y.- The St. John's University women's track and field team came up short on Saturday, placing fourth at the Army Invitational at the Gillis Field House. The Red Storm totaled 153 points for the day.
Senior Shernette Davis led the Red Storm, placing first in both the 60m and 200m, with times of 7.60 and 24.40. Davis also was a member of the 4x400 first place relay team, which included teammates, Vanessa Sessa, Thamara Cherisme and Tarashon Broomes. Broomes and Cherisme, along with senior Sophie Sylvain filled the second, third and fourth place finishes in the 500m dash with times of 1:20.36, 1:22.21 and 1:22.66, respectively.
Sophia Bazile placed second in the triple jump at 11.27 and fourth in the long jump at 5.34. Sylvain also showed a strong performance in the long jump, placing second with a distance of 5.41.
Junior Blessing Egwu led the Red Storm throwing unit, placing fourth in the weight throw at 15.95.
The Red Storm returns to action on this weekend as they travel to Boston, Massachusetts for the Terrier Invitational.
