Queens, NY- - The St. John's women's basketball team will look to extend its unbeaten streak to nine games when they host ACC rival Georgia Tech on Friday. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
The Red Storm return to Carnesecca Arena after going 3-0 on a two-week road trip. Wins at Fordham, Binghamton and Fairleigh Dickinson gave the Red Storm an 8-0 overall mark this season and tied the school record for the best start in school history (1977-78). Georgia Tech is coming off of its first loss of the season, after dropping a 55-47 decision at Tulsa on Sunday. Prior to the loss, the Yellow Jackets opened the season with five-straight wins - including an upset win over then No. 6 Georgia - all at their home arena.
St. John's and Georgia Tech have met only one time prior to Friday's game. The Yellow Jackets won that game, in Atlanta, by a score of 61-53 on December 30, 2002.
