Egwu Named All-East at the ECAC Championships

BOSTON, MASS.- Junior Blessing Egwu (Queens, N.Y.) set a personal record in the weight throw and was placed on the All-East team this weekend at the ECAC Championships in Boston, Mass. St. John's closes out the indoor track season with a good showing from many of its athletes, placing in the top 20 in several events in the regional competition.
Egwu recorded a distance of 17.72 in the weight throw, placing seventh overall in the event. Fellow junior Brandy Bradford (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) threw a distance of 15.33 in the same event.
Kay-Dian Reid (Windsor, Conn) placed 15th overall, running a 1:15.75 500m for the Red Storm. The 4x400 team of Reid, Vanessa Sessa (Beltsville, Md.), Judy Williams-George (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Tarashon Broomes (Fairlawn, N.J.) finished with a competitive time of 3:52.39, placing 20th overall in the event.
The Red Storm will open their outdoor track and field season on March 20th in Coral Gables, Fla. for the Miami Invite.
