Track Competes at Penn Relays and Yale Invitational

The St. John's track and field team wrapped up an eventful weekend, participating in the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. and the Yale Invitational in New Haven, CT.
The Red Storm was led by the 4x100m relay team of Judy Williams, Shernette Davis, Kay-Dian Reid and Vanessa Sessa placed third in the ECAC division championships with a time of 46.88. The 4x400m relay team placed fifth in the preliminaries with a time of 3:49.28. In the discus throw, junior Brandy Bradford finished 13th in the College division with a distance of 143'03". Sophia Bazile competed in the Eastern long jump with a distance of 16'10 3/4, placing 26th overall.
The Red Storm throwing unit traveled to the Yale Invitational and competed against several competitive universities. Junior Blessing Egwu led St. John's placing second in two events, the hammer throw and shot put, with distances of 51.99m and 12.73m. Brandy Bradford also placed in the top three in the discus throw with at 42.68m. Fellow throwers Tetee Kuyateh, Judy Owens and Elizabeth Aube also showed outstanding performances for the Red Storm.
The St. John's University's Monday Meeting II that was scheduled for today has been cancelled and tentatively rescheduled for this Wednesday, April 28th.
