Davis Qualifies for NCAA Regionals, BIG EAST Championships

Tuscaloosa, Ala - Shernette Davis (West Hempstead, N.Y.) qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the 100m, placing first with a time of 11.76 this weekend at the Crimson Tide Classic hosted at the University of Alabama. Davis also qualified for the BIG EAST Championship in the 200m (24.05-first place), and as a member of the 4x400 meter relay team (3:51.41-first place).
Another member of the 4x400m relay team, Judy Williams (Philadelphia, Pa.), also qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament in the 100m with a time of 12.09. The Red Storm 4x100m relay team finished with a BIG EAST qualifying time of 47.13, placing second in the event.
Along with Davis and Williams, several other members of the St. John's University track and field team qualified for the BIG EAST Tournament. Junior's Brandy Bradford (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and Elizabeth Aube (West Warwick, R.I.) qualified for the tournament in the discus throw at 44.46m and 39.00m, respectively. Grace Zollman (Joseph, Ore.) added to the Red Storm's success finishing first for the Red Storm in the javelin throw at 37.42m.
The Red Storm returns to action April 16, when they will compete at the Metropolitan Championships in New York, N.Y.
