Hamilton, NY (September 17, 2004) - Junior outside hitter Jackie Ahlers notched 12 kills to lead St. John's over Siena 3-0(30-27, 30-15, 30-20) at the Colgate Classic on Cotterell Court. The Red Storm improves to 4-3 (0-0 BIG EAST) while the Saints fall to 2-6.

In the first game the score was tied throughout the first six points when St. John's went on a 3-0 run to take the lead. Solid blocks at the net from Anicia Wood and LaToya Blunt put down Siena's forceful attack to keep St. John's on top. Late in the game, Siena began a 4-0 run but with aggressive serving by Ahlers pulled the Red Storm ahead, taking the first game, 30-27.
The Saints pulled to a 3-0 early in the second game, before Ahlers put the ball down to regain possession of the ball. Down just three points, jump serving by Amy Christensen pulled Siena to within just one at 8-7. Ahlers responded connecting with setter Lisa Tedder five consecutive times to give St. John's a their largest lead of the game, at 19-11. Colaluca served six consecutive points, including three aces as the Red Storm took the game, 30-15.
St. John's took the lead early in game three with aggressive attacks by Wood. At 15-10 the Saints pulled off four straight points to bring the lead to within three, but Caitlin Rimgaila answered back scoring a kill from the middle. Siena then went on another late game run but was not able to stop the Red Storm's aggressive attack, as St. John's took the final game at 30-20.
The Red Storm returns to Cotterell Court tomorrow when they will face Princeton at 3 p.m. and then host Colgate at 5 p.m.
