Queens, NY (September 5, 2004) - Several members of the St. John's University cross country team ran the St. Christopher-Ottilie Peter Speranza 5k Run for the Children on Saturday in Sea Cliff, Long Island. The charity race helps raise money for St. Christopher-Ottilie programs.
"Participating in the Ottilie 5K was a great experience for our team," said head coach Jim Hurt. "The girls helped at the finish line and with the kiddie run...it was a lot of fun."
Junior Jasmine Barreto finished first for the Red Storm, coming in 21st overall and third in her age group at 20:54. Shelby Mix finished fourth in her age group at 23.56 while Annie Wainscott finished close behind at fifth and 24.34. Junior Tarashon Broomes finished sixth at 26.26.
The Red Storm return to action on September 18 when they will run at the Fordham Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, NY.
