St. John's Places Third at Metropolitan Championships

Queens, NY (January 30, 2005) - The St. John's University women's track and field team placed third at the 2005 Metropolitan Indoor Championships at the Armory in New York, NY. The Red Storm finished with 106 points, close behind the top two schools, Rutgers (199) and Columbia (119).
Graduate Student Kerrian Stewart placed first in both the 60m (7.60) and 200m (24.32) to be named individual champion in both events. Stewart also qualified for the BIG EAST and ECAC Indoor Championships in both events. Kay-Dian Reid finished second in the 400m for the Red Storm with a time of 56.14, which also qualifies her for the BIG EAST and ECAC Indoor Championships later this season.
Senior Blessing Egwu was named individual champion when she placed first in the weight throw with a distance of 18.15m. Tetee Kuyateh placed second for the Red Storm in the shot put with a distance of 13.42m, good enough to qualify her for the BIG EAST and ECAC Indoor Championships.
The Red Storm returns to action February 4, 2005 for the Millrose Games in New York, NY.
