Bronx, NY (January 7, 2005) - The St. John's University track and field team took first place scoring 99 points at the 11-team Fordham Invitational this afternoon.
Newcomers Alecia Sewell (first place) and Kerrian Stewart finished in the top two spots in the 60m dash at 7.55 and 7.68, respectively. Both performances qualified them for the BIG EAST and ECAC Championships later on this season.
The Red Storm's 4x800m relay team of Thamara Cherisme, Jasmine Barreto, Kay-Dian Reid and Aja Williams won the event later in the day to seal the team title for St. John's.
