Kerrian Stewart Named BIG EAST Champion in 60m Dash

February 20, 2005, Syracuse, NY - Graduate Student Kerrian Stewart was named BIG EAST Champion in the 60m dash after placing first with an ECAC qualifying time of 7.49 at the 2005 BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field Championships this afternoon. St. John's finished the meet in ninth place, with a total of 37 points.
In the 200m, Stewart also placed fourth with a time of 24.27. Along with teammates Vanessa Sessa, Tarashon Broomes and Kay-Dian Reid, Stewart led the 4x400m relay team to a fifth place finish with an ECAC qualifying time of 3:50.76.
After finishing second in the 20 lb. weight throw finals last night, Blessing Egwu placed sixth in the shot put, with an ECAC qualifying distance of 13.87.
The Red Storm returns to action next Saturday when they will travel to Claremont, CA for the Rossi Relays.
