Queens, NY - Junior Anthony Varvaro (Staten Island, NY) went 5.2 innings and junior Ken Devenney (Philadelphia, PA) hit a three-run home run, leading the St. John's baseball team to a 14-4 win over LaSalle on Saturday afternoon at Florida Atlantic's "B" Field in Boca Raton.
The Red Storm improve to 6-4 overall, winning their fifth-straight game.
Varvaro went 5.2 innings, yielding two runs (one earned) on four hits and struck out nine batters for his first win of the season.
Devenney paced an offensive attack that exploded for 14 runs after scoring only two the day before. Junior Greg Thomson (Levittown, NY) went 3-for-5.
St. John's returns to action on Friday, playing in a tournament at the University of Minnesota.
