Track and Field Competes at New York Relays

April 23, 2005, Queens, NY - The St. John's University women's track and field team competed at the historic New York Relays on Randall's Island, NY on Friday.
Graduate student Kerrian Stewart placed first in the 400m at 53.50 and also placed second in the 200m at 24.20. Kay-Dian Reid and Alecia Sewell also placed in the top 10 for the Red Storm in the 200m. Junior distance runner Jasmine Barreto placed sixth in the 800m at 2:13.00, while Thamara Cherisme placed eighth in the same event at 2:14.00.
In the relay events, the St. John's "B" squad placed third in the 4x100m at 47.80, and the "A" squad also placed third in the 4x400m at 3:47.00.
For the St. John's throwing unit, Grace Zollman placed second in the javelin at 44.00m, while Blessing Egwu also placed second in the shot put at 13.80.
The Red Storm returns to action next Thursday, April 28, when they will travel to Philadelphia, PA for the Penn Relays.
