Kim Barnes Arico
Head Coach, St. John's
On coming back after the loss to Rutgers:
"I felt that in the Rutgers game we really fought and it was a tough loss for us. Losing drains you just as much mentally as it does physically. I was really curious to see how we would respond today. We've done a great job of bouncing back after some really tough losses all year long. I'm really proud of how they came out against South Florida. I'm happy about the victory."
On South Florida:
"We watched a lot of tape on them and we knew they were going to be a tough team. They get up and down the floor really quick. They have great athletes and play an up tempo style. They have the leading scorer in the country, Jessica Dickson, on their team. We were concerned about her but Greeba [Barlow] and Kia [Wright] did a tremendous job on her. They both played her man-to-man on her a lot."
On the Top-25 ranking:
"I try not to let them think about it. The reason we have been able to get to this point was because we always just worry about the next game. That has been seen in the way we've played all season long. If we get too far ahead of ourselves then that's where we see trouble.
On the team's 9-0 home record:
"It feels great to be back at home. The team plays really well here and we had a great crowd. It is a really exciting atmosphere for us."
On the upcoming game against Marquette:
"I'm happy that we have the opportunity to play them twice and it's great to have the chance to play them on our court."
Greeba Barlow
Senior Guard, St. John's
On today's game:
"We want to continue to be a top seed in the BIG EAST tournament, so we could not dwell on the loss at Rutgers. We needed to put that behind us and we know that we need to win the rest of our games. This game was just as important as Rutgers."
Kia Wright
Junior Guard, St. John's
On the Top-25 ranking:
"It is a great feeling to be in the Top-25, but every game you play you have to come out ready no matter where your team my be ranked."
