QUEENS, N.Y. - Already named the BIG EAST women's soccer Goalkeeper of the Week for the first time in her career, Jaime Beran has added Soccer America Team of the Week honors to her resume.
During a 2-0-0 week for the Red Storm, Beran recorded eight saves and a shutout in a 1-0 upset win over then-No. 18 UConn and added a save in a 2-1 win against Providence. In nearly 212 minutes she allowed just the one goal against the Friars.
The Red Storm scored golden goals in the second overtime to win both games and end the regular season with a three-game winning streak. St. John's defeated Connecticut for the first time since 1994 with a goal in the 103rd minute of play and then beat Providence after a golden goal with just 23 seconds left in the second overtime. With the pair of wins, the Red Storm also earned the fourth seed in the American Division for the BIG EAST Tournament.
The Red Storm hosts Rutgers on Thursday, November 1 in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament.
