Women's Basketball Travels To Hartford

QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's women's basketball team hits the road on Friday looking to continue its four-game win streak against Hartford. Tip-off is slated for 7:04 p.m.
• The game will be televised live in both team's viewing areas, as SportsNet New York (SNY) and New England Sports Network (NESN) will each broadcast the game. This contest is the first televised game of the season for the Red Storm.
• St. John's will be looking to improve its 6-1 record on the season while trying to win its fifth-straight. The Red Storm is coming off an 84-68 win over UMass on Tuesday night.
• The game with Hartford is only the second meeting between the schools. The teams played for the first time on Dec. 4, 2006, with Hartford winning 58-46.
70 Points Secures a Win • There seems to be a theme early in the season for the Red Storm. When St. John's scores 70 points or more, it has posted a perfect 5-0 record. St. John's has scored 72 points against Army, 74 points against Dartmouth, 71 against Monmouth and 76 against BU. The team posted its first 80-point game of the season against UMass with 84. If the Red Storm scores 60-69 points, it has posted a record of 1-1.
Off To A Good Start • St. John's is off to a great start on the season, winning six of its seven opening contests. The 6-1 start on the season is tied for the fourth best in the history of the program and is the third best start under head coach Kim Barnes Arico.
Scouting Hartford • The Hawks are coming off a 72-60 loss to UMass in Amherst, Mass., on Dec. 1. Despite the loss ending the team's six-game win streak, Hartford in still receiving votes in the two Top 25 Polls.
• Hartford struggled getting its offense in motion against the Minutewomen. On the season the team averages 42.4 percent from the field and in its last contest the offense was held to just 33.3 percent. Even though the game was tied at the half, 32-32, UMass' offense progressively got better and out-scored UH 40-28 in the second half.
• Three players scored in double figures for the Hawks against UMass. Erica Beverly scored 14 points off the bench and added a team-high 10 boards for the team's lone double-double. Diana Delva and Danielle Hood added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
• On the season, Hood and Delva are the only two players averaging double-figures in scoring. Hood is pacing the way with an 18.1 points-per-game average. Delva is averaging 11.9 and is leading the team with a 61.7 shooting percentage.
• On the glass, Delva is grabbing a team-high 6.3 boards per game while Erica Beverly is a close second with 6.0.

• The Red Storm is 6-0 this season when leading at halftime.
• St. John's has a 5-0 record when at least three players score in double figures.
• When Monique McLean leads the team in scoring, the Red Storm has won five games.
