QUEENS, N.Y. – Former St. John's women's basketball guard Lashae Dwyer will take her next steps in her professional career, signing a contract with ARIS B.C. in Greece.
Dwyer inked a deal with ARIS B.C. in Thessaloniki, Greece, and will compete for the squad in A1 Ethniki Greek Women's Basketball League, the top division in the country.
After finishing up her college career, Dwyer signed her first pro contract with the TK Hannover Luchse Lynx in Hannover, Germany, and competed in the Damen-Basketball-Bundesliga League (DBBL). She averaged 18.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in 24 games. The Toronto native shot 76.4% from the foul line and 42.3% from the floor during her time in Hannover.
After spending the first three seasons of her collegiate career at Miami, Dwyer made an immediate impact upon arriving in Queens prior to the 2024-25 campaign. She emerged as one of the top two-way guards in the BIG EAST, starting all 31 games and helping lead the Red Storm to a postseason appearance.
During her lone season at St. John's, Dwyer earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year honors, All-BIG EAST Second Team recognition and All-Met Second Team accolades. She also garnered six BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selections and was named the recipient of the Victoria Porter MVP Award. Dwyer averaged a team-high 13.4 points per game while adding 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 3.0 steals per contest.
One of the nation's premier defensive players, Dwyer ranked among the top 15 players in NCAA Division I in both steals per game and total steals while leading the BIG EAST in each category. Her 92 steals rank fourth on St. John's single-season record list. She recorded 25 double-figure scoring performances and four 20-point outings, highlighted by a pair of 25-point efforts against Penn State and Georgetown. The guard also registered the first two double-doubles of her collegiate career, including a 15-point, 10-rebound performance at Providence and a 15-point, 12-rebound effort against Marist.
Prior to joining St. John's, Dwyer spent three seasons at Miami, appearing in 100 games and helping the Hurricanes advance to the Elite Eight during the 2022-23 campaign. As a junior in 2023-24, she averaged a career-best 6.8 points per game and scored 18 points in a victory over No. 4 NC State. During her sophomore season, the Canadian averaged 5.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while ranking second on the team in steals and leading the Hurricanes in field goal percentage among qualified players. Across her four-year collegiate career, Dwyer appeared in 131 games, tallying over 1,000 points while establishing herself as one of the top defensive guards in the country.
Under Head Coach Joe Tartamella, 18 former players have signed professional contracts all over the world, including four who were drafted into the WNBA.
