St. John??' Women??' Tennis Hosts Rutgers Thursday Afternoon

The St. John???s women???s tennis team will look for its third consecutive win Thursday afternoon as it hosts BIG EAST rival Rutgers on The Courts at St. John???s. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Storm Watch
St. John???s enters the contest after defeating Stony Brook, 6-1, Monday night at Cunningham Park. With the win, the Red Storm improved to 3-6 on the season. St. John???s hopes to even its BIG EAST record Thursday, as the team is currently 1-2 against conference opponents.
Junior Maria Zivcicova is first on the squad with a 9-2 singles mark at the No. 1 spot. Senior captain Alison Adamski was also victorious Monday night, improving her overall record to 12-7 on the season. She sits in second place on the team with an 8-6 dual match record.
In doubles play, Zivcicova and freshman Ira Aleksova lead the Red Storm with a 4-2 overall record, playing mostly at the No. 2 spot. Adamski and sophomore Nataly Tumsevica have compiled an 8-5 overall record, going 4-2 in dual matches as well at the No. 1 spot.
St. John???s and Rutgers last met on April 1, 2006 in New Brunswick, N.J., where the Red Storm swept the Scarlet Knights, 4-0.

Rutgers enters Thursday???s event after a 5-4 loss to Division II opponent Barry University on March 14. The Scarlet Knights are 4-7 on the season and 1-2 in BIG EAST play.
Freshman Caitlin Baker leads the squad in singles action with an 8-6 overall record. She is 7-3 in dual matches playing mostly at the No. 4 spot. Senior Lauren Edelschein is first on the team in doubles play. She has compiled an 8-4 mark, going 7-1 in dual matches. Edelschein is undefeated at third doubles with teammate Christine Tran.

The Red Storm returns to action on March 27 against the Pirates of Seton Hall. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. in South Orange, N.J.
