St. John??' Women??' Tennis Hosts Georgetown Sunday

The St. John's women???s tennis team returns to the Courts at St. John???s to host Georgetown Sunday afternoon. Both the men and women???s teams will play that afternoon with a start time of 10 a.m.
Storm Watch
St. John's enters Sunday afternoon???s contest with a 4-7 overall record. The Red Storm is 2-3 against BIG EAST opponents. In its last outing, St. John???s was edged, 4-3, by Seton Hall in South Orange, N.J. The Red Storm was victorious at the top three singles spots but was unable to win a tough three-set match at the No. 4 spot to win the contest.
Although she did not compete in Tuesday???s match, junior Maria Zivcicova remains first on the Red Storm squad with a 9-3 singles record at the No. 1 spot. Senior captain Alison Adamski continues to hold onto second place on the team with a 14-7 overall record and 10-5 dual match record, playing mostly at the No. 3 spot.
In doubles action, Zivcicova and freshman Ira Aleksova lead St. John???s with a 5-2 overall record, playing mostly at second doubles. Adamski and sophomore Nataly Tumsevica have compiled a 9-6 overall mark, 5-3 in dual matches, which is good for second on the team.
St. John???s and Georgetown last met on March 26, 2006 in Washington, D.C. The Red Storm served up a 7-0 sweep of the Hoyas that afternoon.
Scouting The Hoyas
Georgetown will face Connecticut on Saturday, March 31 before traveling to St. John???s on Sunday. The Hoyas enter the weekend with a 2-11 overall record and an 0-3 BIG EAST mark. In its last outing, Georgetown defeated Mount St. Mary???s, 7-0, at the McDonough Tennis Complex.
Junior Stephanie Cohen leads the team in both singles and doubles action. Along with teammate Courtney Olsen, the duo has posted a perfect 5-0 record at second doubles. In singles play, she is 7-5 in dual matches, playing mostly at the No. 2 spot.
On Deck
The Red Storm returns to action on Monday, April 2 against the Blackbirds of Long Island University. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. on the Courts at St. John???s.
