Men??' Golf Heads To 2007 BIG EAST Championships

After posting one of its finest spring seasons in program history, the men???s golf team will head to Louisville, Ky., for the 2007 BIG EAST Golf Championships, hosted by Louisville. The Championship Tournament will begin on Sunday, April 22, at the Cardinal Club and will conclude on Tuesday, April 24.
The Red Storm men???s golf team is fresh off its third championship title of the season, which it captured at the Princeton Invitational, April 14. Junior co-captain Keegan Bradley took second place overall while junior George Zolotas and sophomore Kevin Velardo rounded out the top-20. A week earlier, St. John???s took home its second victory of the season at the Lacrosse Homes Intercollegiate.
The squad started the spring season by breaking multiple school records and earning its first title of the season when it hosted the Treasure Coast Classic. As a team, the Red Storm set a program low, finishing with a 40-under par. Co-captains Zolotas and Bradley each broke the Indian Hills course record while Zolotas set the new record at 10-under par 61. Zolotas???s 61 is another program record and is the current low-round in the nation to date. Bradley went on to pick up his first championship crown of the season as he carded a 21 under par over the three round event.
Bradley has collected four individual titles this year and is ranked among the nations best. He leads his team with a 70.5 stroke average and has been the low scorer in four out of St. John???s five spring events.
St. John???s lineup for the Championships will consists of Braldey, Zolotas, Velardo and rookies Mike Ballo Jr. and Dan Mollicone. The team has combined for 20 top-five finishes and currently own a 288 average, best among BIG EAST teams.
Louisville, Notre Dame, Marquette, South Florida, DePaul, Cincinnati, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Connecticut, and Villanova will all take part in this season???s BIG EAST Championship Tournament. Each team will play 18 holes over the three round event. The Cardinal Club will play at 7100 yards to a par of 72.
