St. John's Cross Country Earns USTFCCA Academic Honors

QUEENS, N.Y. - On Feb. 26, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the St. John's cross country team to their Division I Women's Academic All-American Team.
The squad posted a 3.51 team GPA, putting them in the top-21 percent of the 158 Division I women's cross country teams that made the list. There are 325 schools in Division I that sponsor women's cross country.
This is the second straight season the Red Storm has received the honor.
The 19 freshmen on the squad scored a GPA of a 3.3 or higher last fall, ten of those 19 earned a 3.5 or better.
For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative grade point average.
The Red Storm cross country team competed at the Northeast Regionals in Franklin Park in Boston, finishing 33rd of 36 teams and scoring 888 points.
BIG EAST foe University of South Florida led all schools with a team GPA of 3.78. Stanford University was named the 2007 NCAA Division I USTFCCCA Women's All-Academic Cross Country Team of the Year.
