QUEENS, N.Y. - At the inaugural Palmas Del Mar Intercollegiate hosted by St. John's, senior co-captain Keegan Bradley stood tall as he finished tied for first to help St. John's (20-over 884) finish third. The team also kept its streak of medaling in every event this year alive.
"Overall, it was a great experience for me, my team and everyone involved," said head coach Frank Darby. "Big winds from early spring weather held us back a bit, but as a team we can take a lot of positives from this event."
Bradley shot a 4-under 68 on the final day to move into first. His final round score tied for lowest of the entire tournament. The All-America candidate finished with a 5-under 211. Bradley shared the lead with Andy Winnings of Kentucky.
"The tournament was unbelievable," said Bradley. "It was easily the best and nicest tournament I have ever played in during my collegiate career. The final day was great. It was probably the best round of golf I've played all year."
Sophomore Mike Ballo Jr. finished inside the top 20, placing 18th overall. His 6-over 222 was good enough for second on the St. John's roster.
Next, the Red Storm will look to continue its winning ways in Springfield, La. at the Carter Invitational on March 24. The tournament is hosted by Southeast Louisiana and will be held at the Carter Plantation.
