QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's senior face-off specialist Jack Rosson earned ECAC Lacrosse weekly honors with his stellar 62 percent win-percentage at the face-off X despite the Red Storm's 0-2 week.
Against Quinnipiac on Feb. 25, the midfielder from Severna Park, Md., won 11 of 19 draws, holding Ben Mullaney to just a 42 percent win-percentage. Previously, the Bobcats were 72.7 percent at the X. Rosson's key possessions helped St. John's bounce back from a 9-6 deficit to take the lead with two minutes left to play before the Bobcats won with a buzzer-beating goal.
The Red Storm then traveled to Washington, D.C. on March 1, where Rosson held then-No. 9/11 Georgetown to a dismal 33.3 face-off win-percentage, taking control of 12 of 18 draws. The Red Storm's ECAC foe had previously posted 66.7 percent win-percentage. The senior also picked up a team-high eight groundballs.
Rosson is currently ranked seventh in the league with an overall face-off win-percentage of 61.1 percent.
Up next, St. John's (0-3, 0-1 ECAC) will travel to Philadelphia to face No. 15/14 Drexel on March 8.
