Kelly McManmon tied her career high with five 3-pointers against UTA. She is now five treys away from breaking the STJ career 3-point record held by Monique McLean at 172. McManmon currently has 168 career treys.
With a season-high-tying 15 points, McManmon led St. John's in scoring for the first time this season. After hauling down 11 rebounds against UTA, Joy McCorvey now has 638 for her career, surpassing Dolores Dixon (634) for seventh place on the all-time list. McCorvey is six rebounds from passing Pam Odom (643) for sixth place.
McCorvey also matched her career high with three blocks against UTA. She has recorded one or more blocks in seven-straight games.
Red Storm point guard Nadirah McKenith posted career highs of four blocks and seven assists against UTA.
Eugenia McPherson tied her career high in scoring with 11 points. The STJ freshman guard is averaging 9.5 points over the past four games.
With the 79-47 victory over UTA, the Red Storm has improved to 6-0 this season in games starting at 2 p.m. or earlier. Last season, St. John's was 8-5 in early afternoon contests.
The St. John's "Mac Attack" of McCorvey, McKenith, McManmon and McPherson accounted for 41 of the Red Storm's 79 points against the Mavericks.
The Red Storm held UTA to 18 first-half points. St. John's is 4-0 this season when holding an opponent to under 20 points in one half. The Red Storm limited Stony Brook to just 14 first-half points in its season-opening, 89-52 win over the Seawolves on Nov. 15. Florida managed just 17 points in the second half against St. John's in a 67-41 STJ win at the FIU Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 27. On Dec. 13, the Red Storm held Rhode Island to a season-low 13 first-half points en route to a 69-44 victory over the Rams.
