Sophomore Wins Throwing Events At Indoor Season Opener

QUEENS, N.Y. - Sophomore Chanel King took first place in the shot put and weight throw events at the Manhattan College Opener on Dec. 1. in Riverdale, N.Y.
A native of Upper Darby, Pa., King set new indoor career longs by registering 14.78 meters in the weight throw and 12.57 meters in the shot put. Both distances bested her marks from last year's Manhattan College Opener by over a meter.
Junior Courtney Kolinsky also competed for the Red Storm at the Opener. Kolinsky finished third in the weight throw with a distance of 10.05 meters and sixth in the shot put, throwing 8.69 meters.
The Red Storm will next compete at the Fordham Opener on Friday, Dec. 4 as the St. John's runners take to the track for the first time this season.
