Michaelsen Earns ECAC Player Of The Week Honors

QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's senior Trevor Michaelsen earns ECAC Player of the Week honors after posting personal career highs in all three scoring categories to help the Red Storm to a 8-6 win over Drexel on Saturday.
Michaelsen, a native of Bethpage, N.Y., netted five goals and tallied two assists to lead St. John's (4-0, 1-0 ECAC) in scoring on Saturday. After his seven-point performance against Drexel, the senior midfielder moved up to the top of the Red Storm's season scoring list with 12 points.
Michaelsen scored the Red Storm's first goal of the game with St. John's down 2-0. Michaelsen scored his third EMO goal of the season to tie the score at 2-2; as the Red Storm took advantage of a Drexel holding penalty at 10:47 in the second period. At 6:19 in the third, Michaelsen's first hat trick goal of the season gave St. John's the 4-3 lead. His assist on Malcolm Miles' EMO goal with 18 seconds left in the third helped put St. John's up, 5-4. The senior scored twice more in the fourth to put St. John's out of Drexel's reach and seal the deal on the Red Storm's fourth-straight win of the season.
Monday's honor is Michaelsen's first Player of the Week accolade.
