SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The St. John's women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to BIG EAST rival Syracuse on the road on Saturday as sophomore Joanna Zwirbulis claimed her second win of the season capture a 2-0 singles record for the season. The Red Storm slipped to 0-2 on the season with the loss.
Zwirbulis wasted no time in winning her second match of the season on the road with a 7-6 (2), 6-4 decision over Syracuse's Christina Tan.
Ece Firat and Jenny Yonkus took Chelsea Jones and Emily Harman into extra points to decide the No. 1 doubles match, but fell 9-8 in the close call.
The Red Storm returns to action tomorrow, Sunday, January 31 at Columbia at 6 p.m.
