Chen Promoted To Recruiting Coordinator

QUEENS, N.Y. - Head Coach Joanne Persico of the St. John's volleyball team announced Thursday that third-year assistant coach Li Chen has been promoted to recruiting coordinator for the program.
Chen has served as the volleyball program's primary film coordinator and assists with the setup of team practices in addition to helping with the recruiting efforts for the Red Storm.
While with the Red Storm, Chen has helped lead the team to a 64-34 record, an NCAA Final Sixteen appearance, two BIG EAST Regular Season titles and the 2007 BIG EAST Tournament championship. The team also won its first international silver medal and the Vietnam Cup in 2007.
Chen has been an integral part of the program, dealing with opponent scouting, day-to-day operations and the offense and defense of the team's middle blockers.
"We know that with this new responsibility, he will focus on bringing in a top-25 ranked recruiting class in the near future," said Persico. "He will work to increase the St. John's volleyball visibility both here and abroad."
