Vomero Captures North American Cup

DALLAS, TX - Nicholas Vomero's first place finish in Division 1 men's epee at the North American Cup was one of four top-ten performances for St. John's fencers in Dallas. In Division 1 Women's Saber, Dagmara Wozniak posted a second-place finish, while Daryl Homer and Sean Buckley finished fifth and eighth, respectively in the Division 1 Men's Saber event.
Vomero was followed in the epee by Red Storm teammates Adam Watson, who finished 11th and Andrew Dobbie who came in 107th. In the men's saber, Daniel Tobin came in behind Homer and Buckley at 71st place.
In the men's foil, Eli Schenkel finished 26th, followed by Max Curioso at 37th and Max Blitzer at 56th.
In women's saber, Alexandra Tannous followed Wozniak in the standings with a 55th-place finish.
The Red Storm are back in action this week at the NYU Invitational on Saturday before they return home to play host to the nation's top teams at the St. John's Invitational in Carnesecca Arena and Taffner Field House at 10 a.m.
