Cross Country Garners USTFCCCA Academic Honors

QUEENS, N.Y. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has named the St. John's Cross Country squad as a NCAA All-Academic Team, the Association announced today.
The Red Storm posted a 3.41 team GPA, putting them in the top half of the 192 Division I women's cross country teams that made the list. There are 394 schools in Division I that sponsor women's cross country.
This is the fifth-consecutive season that St. John's has received the honor.
The BIG EAST led all conferences with 12 squads mentioned on as All-Academic recipients. DePaul finished with the highest collective GPA among conference members with 3.64.
For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative grade point average.
Villanova was named the 2010 NCAA Division I USTFCCCA Women's Cross Country Scholar Team of the Year for the second consecutive season. The Scholar Team of the Year distinction goes to the program that earned All-Academic Team honors and placed the highest among the field at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
