Red Storm Takes Eighth In Snowman Invitational

CHANDLER, Ariz. - The St. John's men's golf team took eighth place at the Snowman Invitational following Tuesday's final round at Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz.
The Red Storm finished the tournament at 293-291-299-883 (+19). Missouri ran away with the Snowman Invitational title with a 280-280-281-841 (-23). The Tigers had the top three individuals. Missouri's Emilio Cuartero won the event with a 71-65-79-206 (-10).
Sophomore Pat Wilson led the Red Storm, tying for 12th place with a 69-73-74-216 (E). Wilson had a team-high 11 birdies, which tied for seventh in the tournament. He played his best golf on the par 5s where his 4.33 stroke average tied for second in the 80-player field. The 12th-place tie was Wilson's second-best finish of his career. This past fall, he took eighth place at the Hartford Hawk Invitational.
Freshman Ryan McCormick tied for 17th after shooting 72-73-72-217 (+1). McCormick had 10 birdies to tie for 10th in the tournament. He now has three top-20 finishes in his STJ career after tying for ninth at the Hartford Hawk Invitational and tying for 10th at the Mission Inn Intercollegiate.
Sophomore Peter Ballo finished with a 76-70-79-225 (+9) to tie for 39th. Ballo also had 10 birdies, tying for 10th in the field. Senior Mark Costanza shot 77-75-75-227 (+11) to finish tied for 45th. Senior captain Evan Beirne took 58th after carding a 76-77-78-231 (+15).
The Red Storm returns to action March 7-9 when it hosts the Caribbean Classic at Costa Caribe Resort in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
