St. John's Takes Ninth In River Landing Intercollegiate

WALLACE, N.C. - The St. John's men's golf team finished in ninth place in the ECU/UNCW River Landing Intercollegiate on Saturday at River Landing Country Club.
The Red Storm finished the tournament at 288-296-297--881 (+17), 40 strokes back of team champion and tournament co-host East Carolina, which led all 14 squads with a 23-under 841. Liberty (20-under 844) and Memphis (16-under 848) rounded out the top three. UNC Wilmington's Josh Brock won the individual title after carding a 66-67-68--201 (-15).
Sophomore Pat Wilson shot a 3-over 75 on Saturday to finish the tournament at 70-73-75--218 (+2), tying for 22nd. Wilson now has six top-25 finishes on the year.
Sophomore Peter Ballo finished tied for 27th after shooting a 71-72-76--219 (+3). Senior Mark Costanza and freshman Ryan McCormick led the team in the final round, each posting a 1-over 73. Costanza tied for 33 after carding a 73-74-73--220 (+4) and McCormick tied for 51st after shooting a 74-77-73--224 (+8). Fifth-year senior captain Evan Beirne finished 81st after shooting an 87-77-82--246 (+30).
The Red Storm next heads to Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla., to compete in the 2011 BIG EAST Championship from April 17-19.
