Panik Garners Second Team ABCA/Rawlings All-America Honors

QUEENS, N.Y. - Already a second team All-American (Baseball America) and a third team All-American (Louisville Slugger), Joe Panik has been named a second team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings.
One of three finalists for the Brooks Wallace Award, an honor given to the nation's top shortstop, Panik was a first team ABCA All-Northeast Region honoree and a first team All-BIG EAST selection this season, and was also a member of the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
After setting career-highs in batting average (.398), hits (90), doubles (19), home runs (10), RBI (57), slugging percentage (.642), on-base percentage (.509) and stolen bases (21), Panik was selected by the San Francisco Giants as the 29th overall pick in the first round of the Major League Baseball Draft.
The winner of the 2010-11 BIG EAST Baseball Scholar-Athlete Excellence Award, Panik boasts a 3.81 GPA as a Finance major and earned third team Capital One Academic All-America honors as well as first team Academic All-District accolades.
