Bronx, N.Y. - The 2012 cross country season came to a close as a shorthanded Red Storm squad battled to a 12th-place finish at the ECAC Championships at Van Cortlandt Park.
"I was pleased with the efforts our ladies made today, but it's difficult to place well without our top runners being able to perform at their best," said head coach Jim Hurt. "We certainly made progress as the year went on and we are looking for great things in the upcoming indoor season."
St. John's finished with an average 5K time of 20:05.12 and place four runners in the top-100. The Red Storm totaled 317 team points, just 13 behind 11th place Towson. The 12th-place finish was a two spot improvement from last year's 14th-place mark.
St. John's was without senior Alexis Bean and freshmen Ashlin Conroy and Veronica Thompsondue to injuries and illness.
