Red Storm Opens Spring Season At 2013 Snowman Getaway

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - After nearly a four-month layoff from collegiate golf, the St. John's men's golf team and head coach Frank Darby are set to begin the spring 2013 season and the quest for an NCAA Regional Berth with the Snowman Getaway, hosted by Washington State at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz, Feb. 25-26.
The Palm Valley Golf Club will play at Par 72 and 7,015 yards for the Snowman Getaway. Joining St. John's and Washington State in this year's field will be Missouri, Kansas State, Minnesota, UMKC, UNC Greensboro, Gonzaga, Air Force, Missouri State, Utah Valley, SIU-Edwardsville, Seattle and Loyala (Md.). Arizona State and UCLA will have individuals competing in the tournament, but will not have team entries.
The teams will play 36 holes on Monday before closing the tournament with 18 holes on Tuesday. Live scoring for all three rounds will be available via golfstat.com.

- Junior Ryan McCormick was the low-scorer on the Red Storm squad during the fall season, posting a 73.71 stroke average. He competed in all five events during the fall season, recording two top-10 finishes, including a tie for fifth at the season-ending Wendy's Kiawah Classic (Oct. 29-31).
- Senior Pat Wilson was second on the team with a 75.43 stroke average and two top-10 finishes. He excelled best at the two St. John's-hosted events during the fall campaign, finishing seventh at The McLaughlin (Sept. 15-16) and fifth at the Mission Inn Classic (Oct. 19-21).
- Sophomore Mitch Hadfield was third on the squad with a 76.29 stroke average, competing in all five events in the fall. His best finish came at the Mission Inn Classic, as he finished 20th while competing as an individual.
- Senior Ryan Gay was fourth on the team in the fall season with a 76.43 scoring average after competing in all five events. Gay's best results came as he finished 15th at The MacDonald Cup (Sept. 29-30) after an opening round 68(-2).
- Senior Jeremy Quinn played in all five events for the Red Storm in the fall, posting a 76.64 average. His best result came when he shot a one-over 141 to tie for 11th at The MacDonald Cup.
- Sophomore Dylan Crowley posted a 76.67 stroke average in the fall season, playing in four of the Red Storm's five events. His best result of the fall was a 21st place finish at the Mission Inn Classic.
