Red Storm Finishes Fourth At Wolfpack Spring Open

RALEIGH, N.C. - The St. John's men's golf team shot a 295(+7) in the final round of the Wolfpack Spring Open to finish fourth behind three ranked teams from the ACC at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course on Sunday.
The low man for the day was Ryan Gay, who responded from a bogey on the first to record eight-straight pars on the front nine. One the back, Gay notched birdies on the 10th and 18th on his way to a 73(+1).
Three players for the Red Storm carded 74(+2), including Ryan McCormick, who tied for fourth, Pat Wilson and Dylan Crowley. McCormick went four over on the front, but recorded three straight birdies after the turn to go two under on the back.
Wilson opened with a birdie, but was sitting at four over after 14 holes. The senior then recorded an eagle on the 15th and a birdie on the 16th to go even on the back.
Crowley started out three over through his first five holes, but birdied the sixth and seventh holes to shoot one-over on the front. The sophomore parred 10 of his last 11 holes, with just one bogey on the 12th.
Rounding out the starting five for St. John's was Jeremy Quinn, who went four over on each nine to shoot an 80(+8), highlighted by birdies on the seventh and 17th.
Duke took the team title, while NC State's No. 4 Albin Choi took the individual title.
St. John's will next head to the BIG EAST Championships as it tries to add to its conferece-best nine league titles, April 28-30 at Reunion Golf Course in Orlando, Fla.
