No. 70 Red Storm Wraps Up Season At Binghamton

QUEENS, N.Y. - The No. 70 St. John's men's tennis team will close out the 2014 spring season at Binghamton on Thursday, April 10 for a match set for 2 p.m. The Red Storm returns to the courts after a 1-1 road trip through the Midwest including a 6-1 win over BIG EAST foe Creighton on April 3 to move to 2-0 in conference play.
The bottom half of the SJU lineup, comprised of senior Gary Kushnirovich, sophomore Michael-John Every and freshman Freddy Ruiz Acevedo, were all victorious as they lifted the Red Storm over the Bluejays. Kushnirovich's 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 6 singles slot clinched the match for St. John's.
Binghamton, who enters the match at 11-9 overall, has dropped the last two meetings against the Red Storm including last year's 4-3 loss at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center that lasted five hours on March 17. 2013.
SJU came in at No. 70 in this week's ITA Rankings after being slotted at No. 62 last week, the highest ranking for the program since the week of Jan. 23, 2013 when the Red Storm checked in at No. 56. Sophomore R.J. Del Nunzio and junior Erick Reyes made their fifth appearance in the Men's National Doubles Rankings at No. 77 while junior Lucas Hejhal and sophomore Vaidik Munshaw checked into the rankings for the first time of the 2014 campaign at No. 58.
