Nastya Polyakova Earns All-BIG EAST Honors

QUEENS, N.Y. - To conclude an impressive first season in Queens, junior Nastya Polyakova earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST team as announced by the conference office on Thursday.
Polyakova tallied 10 singles victories including a 5-3 mark at the No. 2 singles slot. The St. Petersburg, Russia native went 4-0 in conference play and won five of her first six singles matches of the season with wins over second singles players from Georgetown, Maryland and Connecticut.
In the BIG EAST Semifinals against top-seeded DePaul, Polyakova defeated fellow All-BIG EAST team member Ana Vladutu, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, to give St. John's its point in the 4-1 loss to the Blue Demons.
