SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.- Led by the steady play of senior Obe Ayton, the St. John's men's golf team finished in 10th place at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate on Saturday afternoon, wrapping the week with a 312-307-314--933 (+69).
Heading into the day at even par, Ayton continued to navigate his way through the par-72 course in Saturday's final round, ending the day bogey-free with a pair of birdies to card a 70 (-2) and finish in fifth place with a three-round total of 214 (-2).
With three birdies on the day, Dylan Crowley ended the week in 25th after carding a 225 (+9) while Mitch Hadfield ended the week in 62nd with a 246 (+30) after carding three birdies in his final round.
John Russo rounded out the Red Storm's team total after carding a birdie on the par-3 12th, finishing the week in a tie for 63rd with a 248 (+32).
After carding a pair of birdies in his final round, Giuseppe Truglio ended the week in 66th overall, finishing the three-round event with a 272 (+56).
The Red Storm will return to action on March 27-29 as it heads to the FAU Slomin Autism Invite at the Fountains Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida.
