St. John's Men's Tennis Upsets No. 32 Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Feb. 26, 2016) - In one of the most memorable performances in program-history, the St. John's men's tennis team (12-3) upended the No. 32 Harvard Crimson (8-5) in upset-fashion by a score of 4-3 on Friday evening at the Murr Tennis Center.
"Today was a total team win. Each guy contributed to the biggest win in program history. To beat Harvard, a perennial top-30 program, on the road is a big step for us. Our guys came out in doubles and really set the tone especially Lucas and Dusan at the three," said Head Coach Eric Rebhuhn. Alan and Vaidik had great poise and came up clutch. Robbie played one of his best matches and kept the momentum. I am really impressed with Andrei and Danny's ability to come through when we needed them. We have been working hard since January for this opportunity. We were prepared we believed this was our time. I am so proud of our guys and happy for them."
St. John's took an early match lead after sweeping the doubles matches. Lucas Hejhal and Dusan Vukicevic started off with a victory over Conor Haughey and Kelvin Lam, 6-2 before Vaidik Munshaw and Alan Nunez Aguilera clinched the doubles point with a win over Sebastian Beltrame and Nicky Hu, 6-4.

Skripnik and Livi improve to 9-4 when playing together and the team of Hejhal and Vukicevic win their second-straight doubles match.
Needing only three victories to complete the upset, the Red Storm men's tennis team saw singles victories at the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 positions from a pair of newcomers and one veteran.
Freshman Andrei Crapcenco downed Andy Zhou in straight-sets, 6-2, 7-5, improving to 12-1 in singles play this season and veteran Livi earned his seventh victory of the year in convincing fashion, winning over Brian Yeung, 6-1, 6-2.
After five of the six singles matches had been completed, St. John's and Harvard were deadlocked at 3-3 before Skripnik, playing at the No. 2, overcame Sebastian Beltrame in a tight match, 6-4, 7-6, for his sixth victory on the year and completing the Red Storm upset.
St. John's will take on another ranked Ivy-League opponent, in No. 38 Darmouth on Saturday at noon at the Boss Tennis Center in Hanover, N.H.
